Data Engineer (GCP)

About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced Data Engineer with 5-7 years of hands-on experience to design, build, and maintain scalable data solutions on Google Cloud Platform. In this fully remote role, you will leverage GCP services, Python, SQL, and BigQuery to drive data-driven insights and ensure the performance, reliability, and security of our data infrastructure.

Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines using GCP services
• Implement and optimize data models and schemas in BigQuery
• Write efficient SQL queries and Python scripts for data transformation and analysis
• Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and stakeholders to translate requirements into robust data solutions
• Monitor pipeline performance, troubleshoot issues, and ensure data quality and reliability
• Document data workflows, architectures, and best practices
• Implement data governance, security controls, and compliance standards
• Mentor junior engineers and share technical knowledge across the team

Required Qualifications:

• 5-7 years of professional experience in data engineering
• Strong proficiency with Google Cloud Platform services, including BigQuery, Cloud Storage, and Dataflow
• Expert-level SQL skills and experience optimizing complex queries
• Advanced Python programming skills for data processing and automation
• Proven experience designing and maintaining scalable ETL/ELT workflows
• Solid understanding of data modeling, warehousing concepts, and best practices
• Excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills

Preferred Qualifications:

• Google Cloud Professional Data Engineer certification
• Experience with Apache Airflow or other workflow orchestration tools
• Familiarity with infrastructure as code (Terraform, Deployment Manager)
• Knowledge of dbt or similar data transformation frameworks
• Experience with real-time data streaming technologies (Pub/Sub, Dataflow Streaming)
• Exposure to additional cloud platforms (AWS, Azure)
