Sr. Engineer Level 1 – Governance standards

About the Role:

The Sr. Engineer Level 1 – Governance Standards will design, implement, and oversee IT governance policies and standards across the organization in the United Arab Emirates. This role ensures compliance with regulatory requirements, mitigates risk, and drives best practices in endpoint security, identity and access management, ITIL processes, end user computing, and Microsoft Intune.

Responsibilities:

• Develop, document, and maintain IT governance frameworks, policies, and standards
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment of governance controls with business objectives
• Monitor and report on governance metrics, compliance status, and risk assessments
• Lead endpoint security strategy, deployment, and monitoring initiatives
• Design and implement Identity and Access Management (IAM) solutions and access review processes
• Manage ITIL-based processes including incident, problem, and change management
• Configure, deploy, and maintain Microsoft Intune for device compliance and management
• Advise on end user computing solutions and enforce security guidelines for desktops, laptops, and mobile devices
• Conduct regular audits and gap analyses to identify governance improvements
• Provide mentorship and training to junior engineers on governance standards and technical best practices

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
• 8–10 years of professional experience in IT governance, security, or compliance roles
• Technical expertise in IT governance frameworks such as COBIT and ISO 27001
• Hands-on experience with endpoint security solutions (e.g., EDR, antivirus platforms)
• Proficiency in Identity and Access Management technologies and protocols (e.g., SSO, MFA, LDAP, SAML)
• Practical knowledge of ITIL processes including incident, problem, and change management
• Experience with end user computing platforms and device management best practices
• Proven experience configuring and managing Microsoft Intune
• Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills
• Ability to work effectively within the regulatory environment of the United Arab Emirates

Preferred Qualifications:

• Certifications such as CISM, CISSP, ISO 27001 Lead Implementer, ITIL Expert, or COBIT5 Practitioner
• Experience with cloud governance and security in Azure and AWS environments
• Familiarity with UAE regulatory frameworks (e.g., NESA, DIFC, ADGM)
• Experience with security automation and orchestration tools
• Arabic language proficiency
• Project management certification (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2)
